Item Details

A Minton, dust pressed tile transfer printed with one of the series of the Seasons. This is marked, in the casting to the reverse, “MINTONS CHINA WORKS STOKE ON TRENT” and it dates from c.1885. It also has the globe mark surrounded by “STOKE UPON TRENT WALBROOK LONDON” with “MINTON” to the centre. It is printed, in shades of brown, grey and pale orangey brown, with a shepherd herding his flock, and the words “WINTER. THE SNOW STORM”. Although unsigned this is one of the designs by MOYR SMITH who was responsible for many of Minton’s tile designs. The tile is in very good condition.
Dimensions: 15.2cm. square by 0.9cm. thick.
