Item Description
A dust pressed, Minton tile, transfer printed in grey, on a white background, with a woman and children, in a farmyard, looking at a birds nest. This is marked, to the reverse “MINTONS CHINA WORKS STOKE ON TRENT”. It is also marked with “MINTON” to the centre of a globe, surrounded by “STOKE UPON TRENT WALBROOK LONDON”. The design is from a series which was named “Village Life” and they were designed by William Wise and issued in 1882. They were produced from 1882 until 1885. The print is signed “W WISE” in the bottom left hand corner. The print is exceptionally good quality. There is very minor chipping to the edges but otherwise the tile is in very good condition.
Dimensions: 15.2cm. square by 1cm. thick.
