Item Details

A dust pressed, block printed, Minton tile from the Rural Scene series. This is marked, to the reverse, in the casting, “MINTONS CHINA WORKS STOKE ON TRENT” and there is also “MINTON STOKE UPON TRENT WALBROOK LONDON” in a circular mark. It is transfer printed in brown with two horses and a foal in a field. This is from one of the Rural Series that were designed by William Wise for Minton and it is signed, in the bottom right hand corner “W.WISE 1879". There is a small chip to the rim of the tile.
Dimensions: 15.2cm square by 1cm. thick.
