Item Details

A 19th century, dust pressed, Minton tile from the Shakespearian series. This is marked, in the casting, “MINTON’S CHINA WORKS, STOKE ON TRENT”. It is also marked with a globe, with “MINTON” across the centre, and surrounded by “STOKE UPON TRENT WALBROOK LONDON” in ribbons, and it dates from c.1880. It is printed, in brown on a beige background, with a scene from Timon of Athens, Act III, Scene VI. This Shakespearian series was designed by Moyr Smith and the tile is signed “IMS” within the print. It is in excellent condition.
Dimensions: 15.2cm. square by 1cm. thick.
