https://www.thehoarde.com/dealers/appleby-antiquesA nineteenth century, French copper bucket with a folding brass handle. This is made from a heavy gauge of copper and it dates from c.1860. It is nicely shaped, has a wired rim and a castellated seam up the side. Originally it was tinned so it was probably made as a milking bucket, or for use in the kitchen. However, this tinning is now quite worn, so it could no longer be used for this purpose, but it would be ideal for use as a large jardiniere, a coal bin, or even as a waste bin. There is a small split in the rim and the copper has very slight denting, from use.
Dimensions: Height 28.6cm. Diameter 31.3cm. Width across the handles 35.5cm.
