Item Details

A pair of early 19th century, Sheffield Plate bottle coasters. These are quite a simple, but pleasing design and they date from c.1830. It is common, with Sheffield Plate, for the plating to wear, which reveals the copper beneath. This gives it character, and desirability, and it should not be replated as this destroys the character. This pair are in good condition, with one revealing a lot more of the copper than the other and this can be seen in the images.
