They are also marked ”PIESSE AND LUBIN RIBBON FUMIGATING”. Piesse and Lubin was a luxury perfumery in London which was established in 1855. These would have held scented oils and a ribbon would go through the hole in the lid down into the oil. The ribbon would absorb the oil, be lit, and would dispense a fragrance into the room. The pots are decorated, in white relief, with female heads, cherubs and torcheres. To the rim is a band of laurel leaves and berries. The reliefs are all very good quality and the jasper dip is a rich shade of blue. There is staining, due to their usage, and there are a few tiny chips to the lid of one.
Dimensions of one: Height 10cm. Width across female heads 10.4cm. Diameter 10cm. The other is marginally taller and narrower.
