A Shelley 'Armadillo' pattern mould. This mould is marked, in dark green, 'SHELLEY', in a shield, with 'MADE IN' above the shield and 'ENGLAND' beneath. It dates from c.1930. Shelley made five different moulds with animal designs and they are all quite collectable. They were each made in three different sizes and this is the smallest of the armadillos. Unlike most of the other animals the armadillo is only modelled on the inside of the mould but the moulding is exceptionally well detailed. There is a very small stain on the inside of the mould but otherwise it is in excellent condition.
