Item Details

A very simple, early 20th century, sycamore breadboard. This is carved with the word “BREAD” and it dates from c.1920. Originally there were long, chip carved, stylised leaves around the remainder of the border but these are now so worn that they are barely visible. The board is in good condition, with no chips or cracks, but there are some knots in the wood, which can be seen in the images, and they would have been in the wood when the board was carved.
Dimensions: Diameter 28.2cm. Depth 2cm.
