A small, French copper, shallow stockpot or casserole. This shape and size of casserole is ideal for cooking a soup or casserole and taking it straight to the table for serving. This is a lovely example. It is well made, from a very heavy gauge of copper, and it has nicely castellated seams around the base and up the side. The handles to the sides and lid have very attractive, almost heart shaped terminals. It dates from c.1860 and is is very good condition. There is just slight scratching to the lid. The interior has been re-tinned so that it can be used.
