This is stamped with the orb and cross symbol used by Benhams but it is also stamped “ADAMS & SON 57 HAYMARKET LONDON” and there is a pattern number “573”. It would have been made by Benhams for retail by Adams and Son. It is well, made from quite a heavy gauge of copper, and it dates from c.1880. The design consist of eight columns which narrow toward the top and resemble tongues. It is in very good condition but the tinning, to the interior, is worn.
