Item Details

A small, 19th century, French copper grape hod. This would have been used for collecting grapes when picking from the vines. It would have been strapped onto the back of the picker and the grapes were thrown over the shoulder and into the hod. It still has its original fittings through which the leathers straps were attached. he front of the hod is embossed with a bunch of grapes. It is well made, from quite a heavy gauge of copper, and it dates from c.1890. It is in excellent condition. This is a small example and now would be ideal for use as a waste bin or for a large display of flowers.
