Item Details

A lovely quality, small, early 19th century, grey and salmon pink marble mortar with a double ended, boxwood pestle. This is probably grey St. Laurent marble from Italy. The colours in the marble range from dark grey, through to light grey, white and salmon pink and this colour combination is very attractive. It dates from c.1820 and is in excellent condition. The boxwood pestle has cracks in both ends but the wood has a beautiful patina.
Dimensions: Mortar: Width 22.5cm. Height 11.2cm. Pestle: Length 22.6cm. Diameter 4.5cm.
