Item Details

An early 20th century, stainless steel bread knife with a carved sycamore handle. The blade is marked “WINGFIELD ROWBOTHAM ESTD 1752. SHEFFIELD” to either side of a harp beneath a crown. It is also marked “Hygienic Stainless”. Stainless steel was developed in 1913, and soon in wide use in cutlery, and this knife dates from c.1920. The handle is very well carved with wheat against a stipple background. The piece is in excellent condition.
Dimensions: Length 31.5cm. Width of blade 3.5cm. Diameter of handle 3cm.
