Item Details

An early 20th century, stainless steel bread knife with a carved sycamore handle. The blade is marked “SKIPPER”, within a skipping rope shape, and “S HIBBERT & SON CUTLERS SHEFFIELD”. It is also marked “FIRTH STAINLESS”. S Hibbert and Son were established in 1892 and stainless steel was developed in 1913 and soon in wide use in cutlery. This knife dates from c.1920. The handle is very well carved with wheat and leaves against a stipple background. The piece is in excellent condition.
Dimensions: Length 32.5cm. Width of blade 3cm. Diameter of handle 3cm.
