Item Details

A nineteenth century, sycamore breadboard carved with implements relating to the harvest. This is English and it dates from c.1880. The border is well carved with a sickle, a scythe, wheat, barley and hops. The carving is now quite worn, giving the board plenty of character. There are knife marks, from use, to both the face and the reverse of the board. The wood has a rich, honey coloured patina.
