Item Details

An unusual, 19th century, telescopic brass tasting fork. This would have been used for toasting bread in front of an open fire. It is English and it dates from c.1860. It has a beautifully turned wooden handle with a brass fitting on the end so that it can hang by the fire when not in use. There is a swivelling brass hook to hold the bread, and the arm extends from 22cm. to 44cm. It is in excellent condition.
Dimensions Length when fully extended 67cm. (Length when not extended 44.5cm). Diameter of handle 3.2cm.
