Item Description
A large, and very heavy, French copper gratin or baking dish. This is made from a very heavy gauge of copper and it dates from c.1880. It is stamped, to the side “LLEZ F PARIS”. Part of this mark is missing as it would have been ALLEZ FRERE. There is a further mark which appears to read “ETS TERRISSE STAMAGE CLERMONT FD” which probably relates to an address in Clermont Ferrard in central France. It is also stamped with a number “40” which relates to the length in centimetres. There is a large, brass ring handle to one end so that it can hang when not in use. There is some pitting to the copper, from use, but generally it is in very good condition. It hasn’t been re-tinned by us but the tinning is still in very good, usable condition.
Dimensions: Length 41.7cm. Width 26.8cm. Depth 5.7cm.
Price includes postage within the U.K. Shipping to the U.S.A. add £40. Most of Western Europe add £20.
