Item Details

A very large, Wedgwood, dark blue jasper dip Trophy Vase. This is marked “WEDGWOOD ENGLAND” and it dates from c.1900. This type of vase was known as a Trophy Vase due to the reliefs as they nearly always had musical or military trophies hanging on the neck of the vase. This example is also decorated with four of the Muses standing between trees and foliage. Above this is a border of laurel leaves and berries and to the base are two different foliate bands. The reliefs are all very good quality and the jasper dip is a rich shade of blue. There are two marks to the glaze, on the rim, but these are from the manufacture. The vase is in very good condition.
Dimensions: Height 38cm. Diameter 19cm.
