Item Details

A Wedgwood, black basalt plaque depicting Venus and Cupid. This is marked “WEDGWOOD” and it dates from c.1860. It is also marked with a letter “J” which would be the workmans’ mark. Originally this plaque was made as one of a pair, both depicting Venus and Cupid in different poses, and they were catalogued as “Night and Day”, this one being Night. The plaque is good quality, with lovely detail to the moulding, and it is in excellent condition. It is in its original gilt frame, which has a couple of small cracks.
Dimensions overall including the frame: Length 18.8cm. Width 15cm. Depth 1.2cm.
