Item Details

A Wedgwood, black basalt sucrier. This is marked “WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND” and it dates from c.1920. This simple, fluted design is one which was first seen in the pattern books in the 18th century but it continued in production for over a century. The elegant shape was moulded and the earlier examples tended to be very crisp whereas the later examples are less well defined. This example is in excellent condition.
