Item Details

A super quality, Wedgwood black basalt vase with bronze and gilt decoration. This is marked “WEDGWOOD” and it dates from c.1880. It also has a pattern number “Z3793” painted in gilt. Basalt vases, with the relief decoration highlighted in bronze and gilt, were made for a short period around 1880 but the production was limited to a small number and good examples are now quite rare. This example is decorated with four different classical subjects between anthemion and to the neck is a band of grapes and vines. The reliefs are all very good quality and the vase is in excellent condition.
Dimensions: Height 15cm. Diameter 10cm.
