A Wedgwood, dark blue jasper dip Portland Vase. The original Portland Vase, also known as the Barberini Vase was a Roman Cameo glass vase made between AD1 and AD25. Wedgwood experimented for years, in the 18th century, to produce his copies and examples have been produced ever since. This is a good example, marked “WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND” and dating from c.1920. It is also impressed with a number ‘6’ which relates to the height in inches. The reliefs are all good quality and the jasper dip is a very good, rich shade of blue. It is in excellent condition.
