Item Details

A Wedgwood, late creamware, dessert plate decorated with a bird and insects. This is marked ”WEDGWOOD” and it is also impressed with the letters ”CTS” above a letter “R”. This is the date code for the year of manufacture which is 1864. The plate is potted in a heavy creamware, which is known as late creamware, as the body is quite different to the early, lightly potted creamware of the 18th century. It is decorated with an outline transfer print in brown which is then hand coloured with polychrome enamels. There is very slight staining to the plate but otherwise it is in good condition.
