Item Details

A Wedgwood majolica, part dessert service comprising six plates and one comport. This is a matched set, with four different year marks. All of the pieces are marked “WEDGWOOD”. Four of the plates are impressed with the letter “GXZ”, the date code for the year of manufacture 1871. One plate is impressed “BUX” for 1869 and the comport and the final plate are “VZW” and “UVW” both for 1868. All pieces are moulded in the shape of scallop shells and they are covered in majolica glazes in a mixture of brown, green and yellow. The comport has three fabulous, shell shaped feet. There are two tiny chips to the foot rim of one plate but the other six pieces are all in perfect condition.
