This is marked “WEDGWOOD” and it dates from c.1820. The portrait was modelled, for Wedgwood, by John Henning in 1813 and this is a good, early example, with fine detail. It is in perfect condition.

Wellesley was a soldier and statesman. Due to his military accomplishments he was made First Earl of Wellington in 1813 and then Duke of Wellington in 1814. After returning home from battles in 1828 he became Prime Minister and continued in public life until 1846.
