Item Description
A Wedgwood, three colour, jasper dip plaque, depicting four of the Muses, in a later frame. This is marked “WEDGWOOD” and it dates from c.1870. It is also marked with a letter “J” which would be the workmans’ mark. The plaque displays a fabulous colour combination with the white relief against the black dip, surrounded by mustard yellow dip glaze. Period plaques in this combination of colour and size are quite uncommon. The plaque is very good quality, with lovely detail to the reliefs, and it is in excellent condition. The ebonised frame would date from the 1920’s or 30’s and is in good condition.
Dimensions of plaque: Length 15cm. Width 9cm.
Dimensions overall including the frame: Length 21.7cm. Width 15.5cm. Depth 2.5cm.
