Item Details

A very unusual Wedgwood dust pressed, block printed tile. This is marked, in the casting, “JOSIAH WEDGWOOD & SONS ETRURIA” and it dates from c.1880. The first “E” in Etruria is backwards and much of the mark is obscured, probably from when the tile was fired. The tile, which is printed in black, shows a young man and a sheep, and reads “EAT THY FOOD WITH A THANKFUL HEART”. It is set in an unusual frame which is carved with a motto “BE PRESENT AT OUR TABLE AND BE HERE AND EVERYWHERE ADORED”. Both the tile and frame are in excellent condition.
