Item Details

A two part, wooden butter mould carved with a sturgeon. This is marked “THE DISC & EASY CHURNS”. This company was set up in 1898 but had ceased to trade by 1916 so the mould dates from within this period. The design is beautifully carved, with excellent detail, and the two parts have wooden pegs which hold the mould in place in order to turn out a three dimensional sturgeon. There was a small amount of wood worm damage but this has been treated and filled and is not too visible. Otherwise the piece is in very good condition.
