This is a very elegant example of a football clacker or rattle which were common at matches from the C19th up to the 1970's. Crafted from turned wood, the ratchet still works brilliantly, producing the familiar rasping noise. Dating from c1890, this is a fabulous piece of sporting memorabilia and would make a fantastic gift or addition to a collection.
