Utility furniture was introduced in 1942 under the utility furniture scheme, this government-backed project was designed to combat severe timber shortages and heavy bombing damage. They were highly functional, minimalist, and devoid of non-essential decorative frills to conserve materials - this chest of 4 drawers is a perfect example of the above…


The chest sits in good order with the odd historic blemish otherwise very good to place - clean , neat and tidy.
