Great looking chair from a private collection and possibly by London firm White Allom and Company, founded by Sir Charles Allom in 1902 and with offices at 29-30 Old Burlington Street in Mayfair. The firm specialised in historic interior decoration furniture which would tip this chair into the Edwardian period. The X-shape of the legs is reminiscent of folding stools of the Tudor period. In the seventeenth century, the X-shape remained a decorative feature, and the arms and back were added for comfort.


This one survives in rather good original condition with wear in the right places and sits firm with no repairs, wobbles or faults apart from historic ones to the age faded and worn velvet fabric and fringe. Sits well, dry and smells fine


A perfect statement piece for a commercial or home setting.

When purchasing from us we include delivery in the purchase price which is based on a one person delivery for England and Wales. Please call or email for quotes to Scotland, Northern Ireland, the Isles and for World-wide shipping. 


For any large items that require two people to lift the item, we ask that you are available at the time of delivery to be able to give our shipper a lift off the van and into your house with the item.  If you are not able to lift items yourself, we ask that you have someone on hand at the time of delivery to assist our shipper with moving the item. We are happy to quote for a two person delivery if required.
