Early 19th Century French oil portrait of an officer, oil on canvas laid to wooden panel.
The face is so characterful with his little moustache, he can only be a Frenchman!
He’s not perfect, the canvas is worn, there are tiny paint losses, and the frame has seen better days, but I think its charm resides in his ‘attic’ look condition, and should be loved for its ageing beauty.
