Interesting oil on canvas by the British artist Erika Macdonald titled verso “woman on sofa”. Monogrammed EM lower left corner.


Born in 1928, Macdonald lived and worked in London and Kent exhibiting works at major open shows including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions. She studied figure painting and graphic design, famously focusing on capturing the atmosphere, light, and sense of space inside domestic interiors such as this, using life models. Her oil paintings typically exhibit a loose, impressionistic brushwork and a muted warm colour palette.


Inscribed verso, and dated 1992.
