https://www.thehoarde.com/dealers/c2collectionCrafted from durable teak wood, this 20th century bench likely originates from the Dutch Colonial period in Asia. Oswald is a testament to exceptional craftsmanship - form and function held in unshakeable balance.
His scrolling arms reach outward providing both support and charm. Four intricately carved panels to the back demonstrate the maker’s attention to detail. Raised on turned baluster legs to the front, perfectly contrasted by more practical square supports to the rear. At each end, his backrest rises into two horn-shaped finials - sculptural, purposeful and ingenious. A hat rested upon one. A coat draped over another.
Place him at the foot of a bed, where he becomes part of your morning routine. Set him in an entrance hall, where he greets every arrival with the gentle authority of a piece that has earned its place - those horn-shaped finials ready to take the loose ends of a day.
Some pieces furnish a room. Others inhabit it.
