Item Details

This is an early Victorian decanter. It has very smart panel cutting to the bowl of the decanter. It is of the best quality and is quite heavy.


This decanter would have been used in a wealthy household or establishment.


Until the 1670s wine was served at the table in jug or green glass bottle. The decanter started to appear after 1670 and usually took a jug form, it wasn't until the middle of the 1700s that decanters were seen in a form we are more familiar with now.


The decanter is in very good condition. There are some small nibbles to the stopper that can be seen in the photos.
