Item Description
An original hand-painted trade sign for a carpenter named Frank J. Thompson. Nice clear text in a bold and still bright red on pale background. Contained in its original moulded and ebonised frame. An additional sign painted on the reverse “For Sale, Apply WIthin” but this is much later. Loops for hanging. c.1930s.
H: 44cm W: 68cm D: 5cm
Frank J. Thompson was well known in the village of Barrow-Upon-Soar. The village sign that still stands on Jerusalem Island today is one of his creations.
