Item Description

Victorian hand carved framemakers wooden moulds, from The Tucker Collection

A small part of a lifetime's collection, from the renowned british make-up artist Christopher Tucker (1941-2022).

These stunning moulds are most likely made from boxwood or a fruitwood, having originally been used to create the ornate details of picture frames.  Made from composite, once hardened the composite would be painted in gesso and finished with gold leaf. This created the illusion that the intricate frames had been entirely carved by hand in wood.

Individually priced.
