Item Details

An expressive mid-century oil painting attributed to British artist Owen Rowley, depicting a vibrant still life arrangement of citrus fruit, grapes, a stoneware jug and a tall ceramic vessel. Executed with energetic brushwork and a confident use of colour.

Although unsigned, the painting was acquired as part of a collection of works by Owen Rowley and the handling, palette and painterly style are consistent with other examples from the group.

Displaying strong influences of Modern British post-war painting, the work simplifies everyday objects into bold expressive forms while retaining an engaging sense of depth and atmosphere.
