 A framed and glazed original oil on paper, 'American Car Production Line'. Hywell Harries captures the Mediterranean approach to the late 50’s hand built Cadillac production in Italy’


The Cadillac Eldorado Brougham was an ultra-luxury, hand-built 4-door hardtop. In their luxury badge battle with Lincoln, Cadillac pulled out all the stops. Its opulent interior included a flip down bar with magnetized shot glasses, a perfume atomizer, even a Tiffany vanity makeup kit in the glove compartment. The '57 and '58 cars were initially hand built in Detroit, the later cars were hand built in Italy.


The Cadillac Eldorado Brougham was so expensive to produce it was sold at a loss. Cadillac lost over $100,000 on each car sold at the 2026 equivalent list price of $150,000.
