A hand made Jamaican folk art string holder. Made from upcycled and vintage pieces. The head scarf has been hand sewn from a really vibrant cotton print and closes at the back with a simple hook and eye. Hand painted with house paints the head is a coconut shell with wool hair and curtain ring earrings. A piece of string allows the holder to be hung from a kitchen shelf.


A very powerful, evocative story told by this simple, naive repurposing of everyday objects that would be thrown away. Probably sold to supplement a very low income at a market to mid century cruise line tourists stepping ashore sampling local West Indies culture.
