Scottish 'Fernware' letter opener/ bookmark


Fernware is a form of Mauchline ware, first produced in 1872 byW & A Smith of Mauchline. 


They were the first and largest company to produce this style of 'New brown and coloured Fern designs'-


Often using real fern, applied to the wood as a stencil before varnishing with a different colour


This letter opener in lovely condition and still usable
