Item Details

This Primitive Elm Side Table features a natural dry wood tone that evokes the beauty of nature, providing a serene earthy aesthetic. Showcasing a remarkable patina and rich wood tones developed over years of use, it was originally crafted as a chopping block and has now gracefully transitioned into a stunning décor item.

The table has good scale at 57cm height (22.5 inches), it is ideally suited as a side table or a standalone sculptural piece, adding texture and character to any room.

Crafted in France around 1900, it has a distinctive chopping block design that highlights primitive construction techniques, reflecting its rich history. The generous top diameter of 42-55cm (16-21 inches) features a gnarly feel with natural losses and splits, yet it remains in very sound solid condition, retaining a relatively flat surface area.

Featuring three spayed legs, with a wide sturdy footprint (approx 73cm or 29 inches across its base). The table is in very good sound condition, it exhibits characterful losses to the top but is in good sturdy order without any wobbles.

Versatile Use – Consider it for use in a bathroom or sauna space or as piece under a loggia or decking area, next to a bench.

Embrace the charm of this unique piece, which embodies the Wabi-Sabi aesthetic which celebrates the imperfection and transience. Its unique characteristics invite contemplation and appreciation of the beauty found in its natural wear and history, making it a thoughtful addition to any space.
