Item Description
A set of four black lacquered chinoiserie nest of tables, late 19th Century, solid wood construction if great form and colour. Beautifully decorated, japanned on gesso background with depiction of rural village life scenes, wonderful vibrant colours with gilt painted foliage extending to the leg panels joined with small stretcher. Each table show signs of age related wear to the feet and corners, some historic repairs which authenticate the age of the pieces and add to these wonderfully preserved set. The tables neatly store inside each other making these a lovely set of occasional tables. Price for set. English, Circa 1890
