A substantial six-foot carved York stone garden bench, formed from a single impressive sandstone seat resting on two curved bolster plinth feet. The bench has a superbly weathered patina and characterful natural surface, while the curved plinth feet retain original chisel marks to the outer faces, now matured beautifully with rich green moss and lichen. These details give the piece the quiet authority and time-worn beauty of an established English country-house garden feature.

What sets this bench apart is its unusually generous seat, measuring approximately 2 ft wide. The broad, deep top offers comfortable and versatile seating while giving the piece a strong architectural presence. Its elemental construction, generous proportions and softly aged sandstone would make a striking focal point beside a garden wall, along a terrace, in a courtyard, orangery or loggia, while indoors it could introduce natural texture and sculptural presence to an organic interior scheme.

Installation and handling
This piece is freestanding; however, because of its size and weight, professional installation by an experienced landscape gardener or builder is recommended on a suitable, prepared foundation. The seat rests freely on the plinth feet. For a stable and level installation, we recommend bedding it on a suitable mortar bed or using lead packers, as appropriate, to prevent rocking. Specialist lifting and handling equipment will be required.
