A large reclaimed heavy gauge rivetted galvanised steel water tank planter, originally used as an agricultural water trough and now offering superb character as a garden or interior feature. Unlike many similar pieces, this example has developed a wonderful timeworn patina, with a richly aged surface that gives it strong industrial and agricultural appeal.


The tank is very well constructed, with two loop rivetted handles at each end and a heavy rivetted steel top edge that provides additional rigidity and definition. These robust details reflect its working heritage and give the piece an honest, practical quality.


A pipe hole is present at the base, with an overflow hole towards the top, both original features relating to its former use as a water trough. The tank also retains a central divider, adding further visual interest and allowing it to be planted or used in a variety of practical ways.


Despite areas of rust to the inside, the overall structure remains solid, as shown by the underside photograph. The aged galvanised surface, rivetted construction and traces of historic use all contribute to its authentic sense of age, purpose and character.


A wonderful industrial or agricultural piece with genuine heritage, it would make a striking garden planter, courtyard focal point or architectural feature. It could also be used internally for log storage, display or other practical purposes where texture, scale and patina are desired.


Its good overall proportions make it easy to place while still offering substantial presence. The combination of heavy gauge steel, rivetted detailing and naturally aged galvanised finish gives the tank a distinctive look suited to both traditional and contemporary settings.
