https://www.thehoarde.com/dealers/hand-of-gloryA 19th Century Tyrolean Alpine folk art chair, the scroll carved back with shell surmount over a pair of opposing profiles of a bearded men, the centre with a snake coiled around the hole, it's open jaws facing a rabbit, the solid seat with stiff-leaf carved edge and raised on four tapering supports.
The carving of the snake and the rabbit probably demonstrates one of the age old mythologies of the rabbit's ability using intelligence and cunning to outwit the much stronger and more dangerous snake.
