Item Description
An unusual Victorian finely made leather dog muzzle by Garstin of London, with RD date letter for 1885, with buckle closure and stud detailing. Mounted on a custom made metal and perspex stand. 26cm long.
Arthur Garstin founded the company in London in 1871 making fancy leather goods in the French style using traditional British craftsmanship. He soon became one of the largest manufacturers in Britain and regarded as a pioneer in the industry. He invented the 'wristlet' a leather watch strap used by Army officers from the Boar War onwards.Garstin 1871 continues in the same tradition producing hand-crafted leather goods.
