https://www.thehoarde.com/dealers/ljw-antiquesThe Whatnot was a very popular piece of furniture in Georgian + Victorian England - a display stand / set of shelves for holding china, ornaments or any other sort of "what nots".
This is a particularly tall and wonderfully elegant example. English from the Georgian era.
It stands just over 6ft high and has five tiers / shelves with a singular drawer at the bottom. Made from mahogany with finely turned columns, it's stood on it's original brass casters.
The whole piece retains a lovely dark colour, the shelves have a deep glossy surface and the columns a very original, matte finish.
A very practical, fine piece of antique furniture that quite literally stands head and shoulders above the rest.
185cm (6ft+) high x 46cm (18”) wide x 45cm (17 3/4”) deep.
