A very charming thing, this early 20th century decoy duck strikes a lovely balance between competent carving and naive charm. Compared to many out there, this guy is fairly well duck shaped with subtle forming along his back to give the impression of wings and formed eyes etc. His body is carved from a softwood to provide buoyancy though judging by the strips of lead nailed to the base, perhaps there was a little too much of it! He's had a simple, but very effective paint job that has survived the decades well. There is some wear and some losses - most notably to his front, lower 'chest' but generally he presents well.


He measures 36cm long, 15cm wide and around 16cm high
